We hosted Magma founders, LPs, and partners in Oaxaca, Mexico, for Magma Summit 2025. It was wonderful to reconnect face-to-face after our 2024 Summit in Lima and spend time together.

Here's a rundown of all the activities from each day at Magma Summit 2025. Thanks to everyone who came, and we hope to see you all next year!

Welcome Cocktail: Criollo

We kicked off Magma Summit 2025 at Criollo, where we spent time with those who arrived to Oaxaca early with an unforgettable culinary experience.

Magma Summit 2024 Day 1

We started the summit by getting to know each other better. Everyone shared a brag about themselves, how they could help other attendees, and how other attendees could help them.

Embedded Payments 101 in Latin America

In this panel, Pedro Pablo del Campo sat down with Frente’s Micael Martins and Billpocket’s Alejandro Guizar to talk about the payments space in Latin America. They got into the problems they’ve faced, where they see big opportunities ahead and how they team up with other companies.

Fireside Chat: Benjamin Labra, cofounder of Houm

The fireside chat featured Nathan Lustig and Benjamin Labra, the founder of Houm. They talked about how Houm started and how they are making it easier to rent and sell properties in Latin America. Benjamin shared the ups and downs of Houm over the last 6+ years, from tough decisions like layoffs to the challenges of fundraising and navigating the market.

Recycling Latin America's Toxic E-waste

During their chat, Alexa Clark and Dylan Roman, founder of Niu Niu, dove into the complex realities behind "Recycling Latin America's Toxic E-waste," sharing challenges, opportunities, and how Latin America deals with electronic waste.

In the afternoon, we organized small gatherings for founders to connect. At the same time, Nathan, Pedro, and Mak led a session exclusively for LPs, focusing on Magma's performance, investment plans, portfolio management, and insights.

To wrap up our first day, we enjoyed delicious Oaxacan cuisine at Quinta Real. Founders, investors, and the Magma team made Tlayudas, enjoyed a guided mezcal tasting, and played a fun Magma-style Lotería.

Magma Summit 2025 Day 2

The State of Fintech Lending in Latin America

Day 2 started with a panel on Fintech Lending in Latin America moderated by Nathan, with Leasy’s Alejandro Garay, AltisPedro de Paula, Mend’s Luis Mario Rodriguez, and Vexi’s Gustavo Rojo. Each entrepreneur spoke about current challenges in the lending market and the existing big opportunities to use tech to lend successfully to underserved markets.

The AI Regulatory Landscape and Its Impact on AI Startups

Lizbeth Flores, founding partner at PAG Law, broke down the key regulatory risks AI startups face. She talked about intellectual property issues, compliance challenges, and how data privacy and security laws are shaping the AI landscape.

Helping Mexico's Seniors Get Health Insurance

During their chat, Alexa and Carmen Rosillo, co-founder of Koltin, talked about how Koltin continues to build a way for seniors in Mexico to get health insurance. She shared the ups and downs of the journey, why very few seniors in Mexico previously had access to health insurance, how they are able to insure this segment of the population, and the positive effects Koltin has on its customers.

Frente: Promoting International Payments with Pix and eFX

Nathan sat down with Frente’s Renato Costa, to talk about how Pix has transformed payments in Brazil and how eFX is transforming international payments, and how Frente helps Brazilians make payments at home and abroad. 

Enabling Global Businesses from Latin America

In their conversation, Laura Martínez and Maria Camila Ramírez, COO of Ontop, shared the story of Ontop’s growth, how the company started, and the challenges they faced scaling globally.

Fireside Chat: Rodrigo Segal founder of Justo

Nathan and Rodrigo from Justo talked about the advantages of building a vertical solution, like Justo does for restaurants across Latin America.

APIs and Embedded Protocols in Latin America

Juan Kontarovsky moderated a chat with Cura Deuda’s Daniel Carvallo, Prescrypto’s Everardo Barojas, and Nufi’s Ilich Nuñez. They explored how APIs and embedded protocols are reshaping finance and tech in Latin America, highlighting real-world applications, challenges, and the future of digital infrastructure in LatAm.

Closing Dinner at Alfonsina

We wrapped up the summit with a dinner at Alfonsina, a Michelin Guide-recognized restaurant and true culinary gem, offering an authentic taste of Oaxaca’s vibrant gastronomy.

On Saturday, we hosted a breakfast at Almú Tilcajete, followed by a guided tour of the Jacobo & Mariangeles workshop, where we had the opportunity to learn about the intricate process behind creating Alebrijes.
