The FDE opportunity in Latin America

The rise of AI agents has created a massive need for engineers who understand data deeply and who can ship end-to-end products quickly that actually work inside complex organizations.

In Latin America, enterprise sales cycles are long, onboarding is slow, and pilots often die before becoming revenue. FDEs help close this gap. They sit with customers, understand the real problems, build the product, and drive the implementation.

What You’ll Do

As a Forward Deployed Engineer in the Magma FDE Community, you will work directly with one of our 125+ portfolio companies, embedding with their customers to solve real business problems. You will:

• Sit with customer teams, understand their needs, and guide the adoption of what you build
• Translate ambiguous problems into practical, working software
• Own the full implementation, onboarding process, and technical delivery across multiple deployments
• Provide real-world feedback that helps the Product team build a repeatable, scalable product.
• Shorten the time from pilot → value → revenue
• Help founders discover what to build by doing product discovery from the inside
  

This is not a traditional engineering role. You won’t be stuck behind tickets.
This is also not consulting. You will ship real software that users rely on every day.

Who You Are

Great FDEs are rare. They are builders who thrive in chaos, earn trust quickly, and learn systems faster than anyone else in the room. You may be a fit if:

• You’ve built and shipped real products before (personal, professional, or startup projects)
• You have engineering or technical deployment experience that includes customer-facing work
• You are extremely self-driven and biased toward action
• You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• You can find, clean, and structure data across multiple systems
• You can sit inside a customer’s office and figure out what’s actually going on
• You enjoy solving open-ended, messy, high-stakes problems
  

Many great FDEs later become founders. At Palantir, every PM starts as an FDE, and 30% go on to start companies. We expect many FDEs will go on to become founders in Latin America.
